What are ActionZone’s opening hours?
ActionZone Whangārei is open 7 days a week, including public holidays. We do occasional late nights during school holidays and public holiday weekends. Our standard operating hours are:

Is there parking at ActionZone?
Yes, ActionZone has convenient parking available on-site and nearby, making it easy for families and groups to visit.
Is ActionZone suitable for kids and people of all ages?
Absolutely! ActionZone Whangārei is designed for all ages, from young kids to teens and adults. We have a variety of arcade games aimed at different ages and skill levels. Our bowling and laser tag games can be tailored for different ages and skill levels, too; just ask our friendly staff!

Do I need to book ahead for bowling or laser tag at ActionZone?
Walk-ins are welcome! However, we do recommend booking ahead for bowling and laser tag to make sure you don’t miss out, especially on weekends, holidays, or large groups. Book here!
How much does it cost to play at ActionZone?
Prices vary depending on the activity. Please see our Prices page for a full breakdown of price per activity.
Can I choose my activities as I go or do I have to book a package?
You can pay as you go for bowling, laser tag, arcade games, or pool—no package required. For large groups, we do recommend booking ahead to ensure you all get to play together!

Does your Whangārei bowling alley have bumpers for kids?
Yes, we offer optional bumpers and ramps on all bowling lanes, making it perfect for kids and beginners.
Is bowling shoe hire included?
Yes, bowling shoe hire is included with your game at ActionZone Whangārei. Just remember to bring socks.
Laser Tag
Do I need to book laser tag in advance?
While we love walk-ins, our laser tag arena is a busy place (especially on weekends!). You can try your luck without a booking, but we do recommend booking ahead to make sure you don’t miss out. Book here!
How many people can play laser tag at once?
Our post-apocalyptic laser tag arena is massive! We can fit up to 25 players in a single session, making it perfect for big groups or making new rivals.
Is there an age or height limit for laser tag?
If they can carry the vest, they can play! Generally, we recommend ages 6+ so they can handle the gear and the post-apocalyptic atmosphere of the arena.
What should I wear to play laser tag?
You’ll want to be fast on your feet, so we recommend flat, enclosed shoes (sneakers are best). Avoid jandals or heels—you need to be able to dodge and dash!
How long does a game last?
A standard mission lasts about 15 minutes, including your tactical briefing and gear-up. Trust us, your heart will be racing by the end!
Is laser tag a good activity to do for parties?
Definitely! Laser tag is awesome for parties – you’ll get heaps of excitement, laughter, and great memories.
Bowling
Do I need to book bowling lanes in advance?
While we love walk-ins, our lanes fill up fast (especially on weekends!). You can try your luck without a booking, but we do recommend booking ahead to make sure you aren’t stuck on the sidelines. <link> Book here!
Does ActionZone have bumpers for kids?
Absolutely! We have optional bumpers and ramps available on every lane so the kids can keep the ball on the wood and the smiles on their faces.
Is shoe hire included in the bowling price?
Yes! Your lane fee includes professional bowling shoes. Just remember to bring socks (or you can buy a pair from us if you forget)
How many people can we have on one lane?
or the best experience and enough “turn time,” we limit games to 6 people per lane. If you have a bigger crew, no worries—we’ll just book you on side-by-side lanes!
Arcade
How does the arcade at Action Zone work? Do I need coins?
We’ve levelled up! Most of our arcade games now use a simple card system. Load up your Action Card with credit at the counter or kiosk, tap your card on a game to play, and your tickets are saved automatically to your card. Some machines have a dual system where cards or coins both work.
What can I do with the tickets I win?
Head over to our Prize Counter! You can trade your hard-earned tickets for a variety of epic prizes, from awesome toys and gadgets to legendary big-ticket prizes.

Do you host kids’ birthday parties at ActionZone?
Yes! ActionZone is one of Whangārei’s top kids’ party venues, offering stress-free birthday packages with games, food, and fun included. We can do grown-up parties too! Book Here
How do I book a party at ActionZone?
The easiest way is to book on our website, or you can give us a call at 09 438 1028. We’ll get your date locked in and send you digital invitations.
Is there a minimum number of people I need for a birthday party?
Nope, we take parties of all sizes. You can even have a Me Party, if you want!
What happens if more people show up for my party than I expected?
Don’t panic! Just let us know as soon as you can. We can usually adjust your food and lane space on the fly.
Can I bring a birthday cake for my party?
Yes, you’re welcome to bring your own birthday cake when you book a party with us.
Food & Drinks
Can I buy food and drinks at ActionZone?
Yes, we have a cafe serving hot food, snacks, and drinks, plus a licensed bar for adults. Check out our menu.
Can I bring my own food or drinks with me to ActionZone?
We ask that outside food isn’t brought in, as we provide a full cafe. We can also order Dominoes Pizza in for you.
You are welcome to bring your own birthday cake for party bookings. For large group or whole venue bookings, we can help organise catering for your event.
