ActionZone

locally owned & operated by the Anderson family

Kia ora, we are the Anderson family! We have owned ActionZone since March 2026. You’ve probably already seen some of us around the place. Katrina manages the people & day-to-day ops. Jason is our fix-it guy and jack of all trades. Teens Mya and Ronan come work weekends, and little Brodie loves to hang around and play outside of school.

Behind the scenes are Gavin & Berit; Gavin does the finances & business management side of things, and Berit does strategy, research, and website management. Their girls, Nova & Raven, help with game testing and ensure all plans and ideas are kid-approved.

Brothers Jason & Gavin have always been entrepreneurs – through the years, they have started and run a variety of businesses, including revamping old cars, selling skatewear on Trademe, and boat repair & maintenance. ActionZone was an exciting opportunity to try something new and different that combined all our skills – Jason on the mechanics & tools, Katrina with the people, Gavin with the finance/business acumen, and Berit with creative ideas and digital skills.

Gaming is something we all love and enjoy in different ways. Gavin and Mya are our bowlers. Mya is our U18 pro bowler, winning the All-Star Award at the NZ National Tenpin Bowling Championships in 2025 and 2026. She is currently on the 2026 NZ U21s and U18s National Team. Gavin’s not nearly as famous…but he did play in the hobby leagues in his pre-kid era. The rest of us love to play laser tag & bowl for fun, and the little kiddos love to play the arcades. As a whole family, we love to get together and play a lot of board games and cards. Gavin also plays Lorcana and competes in tournaments, recently winning Best in Ink for his innovative Amethyst/Ruby deck at the 2026 Card Show in Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland.

We have big plans to develop and grow ActionZone in new and exciting ways. If you have questions, ideas, or want to partner with us, please pop in and say hi (or send us an email). We’d love to have a chat with you!

what they say

We had just celebrated my son’s 6th birthday there - I had emailed a couple of weeks ago about booking, and all information and organisation was sorted. I called in the night before our booking as I realised I never replied to the email to confirm - all sorted on the phone and the staff member I dealt with made notes as she wouldn’t be there Saturday morning. Arrive Saturday morning and the staff were also amazing and accomodating! Had a wonderful experience and had so much with laser tag! Food was prompt and fast (booked time) and overall great experience. The staff made it seamless as they are operating so many factors of the front desk, arcade, bar, kitchen and just really wanted to sing their praises as it made my experience so much better! Thanks team - you’re amazing!

Had a great time at ActionZone Whangārei! We played a round of bowling and spent some time in the arcade, and both were a lot of fun. The bowling lanes were well maintained, the arcade had a good variety of games, and the overall atmosphere was friendly and enjoyable. The staff were welcoming and helpful, making the experience even better. A great place to spend time with family or friends. We’ll definitely be back!

I’m such a sore loser but I did have the ultimate fun. My daughter beat us all at tenpin (we’re all adults) & won herself a 25 dollar ActionZone card.

Great fun for the whole family. Highly recommended. Really great coffee too!

We attended for a kid's birthday party and our child loved it so much he wanted his own party there! So, on May the 4th, we had a Star Wars party. It's a fabulous facility. The kids loved the bowling and the games arcade, but the highlight was laser-tag. Lots of food available, good coffee, friendly staff and plenty of free parking. There are plenty of toilets, very clean and accessible. We will definitely be back.

Such a cool place to take the kids in the school holidays. They had a wonderful time. Great if you have kids of all differing ages!
